§195.422 Pipeline repairs.

(a)  Each operator [a person who owns or operates pipeline facilities.] shall, in repairing its pipeline systems, insure that the repairs are made in a safe manner and are made so as to prevent damage to person [any individual, firm, joint venture, partnership, corporation, association, State, municipality, cooperative association, or joint stock association, and includes any trustee, receiver, assignee, or personal representative thereof.]s or property.

(b)  No operator may use any pipe [a tube, usually cylindrical, through which a hazardous liquid or carbon dioxide flows from one point to another.], valve, or fitting, for replacement in repairing pipeline facilities, unless it is designed and constructed as required by this part.
