The GPTC Guide

For over 25 years, ViaData has been a proud partner of the Gas Piping Technology Committee. WinDOT includes the GPTC Guide in the subscription version of WinDOT at no additional cost.

What benefits does WinDOT bring to the GPTC Guide?

WinDOT converts the GPTC Guide from a standard PDF into a more user-friendly HTML web format that integrates the guide material with easy links to referenced code sections, advisory bulletins, interpretations, docket history, amendments, special permits, enforcement cases, definitions, and more. This format saves you time and improves your overall user experience with the Guide.

What is the GPTC Guide?

Published since 1970, the Gas Transmission, Distribution, and Gathering Piping Systems Guide contains valuable information, recommendations, and methods to assist a natural gas pipeline operator in complying with Parts 191 and 192 of the Code of Federal Regulations by providing "how to" information related to the standards. The Guide is updated regularly in the form of addendums and new editions.

Who is the GPTC?

The Gas Piping Technology Committee (GPTC) is an independent technical group of individuals from pipeline operators, state and federal government regulators, and manufacturers with expertise in, and concern for, natural gas pipeline safety and is responsible for developing and maintaining the Guide, an American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Standard. The Guide is continuously updated by the GPTC, which issues addendum on a periodic basis.
